Have you ever felt like you’re not enough? Like everyone else is doing better, achieving more, or reaching milestones faster than you?
Same here.
For the longest time, I was caught up in a cycle of comparison and self-doubt. I struggled with imposter syndrome and questioned whether I truly belonged in this amazing wedding industry.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned: being a bridal makeup artist is so much more than just a job. It’s a journey a beautiful, challenging, and rewarding journey filled with passion, creativity, and love.

As my 2024 bridal season wraps up, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all the amazing memories I’ve made with such lovely brides. Looking back, I realise that for many of the brides I work with, I only get to see them two or three times, and for some, I may never see them again whether it’s because they live far away or just needed makeup for their big day. But then, there are those few who become friends and lifelong clients, and that makes it all the more special.
What doesn’t get talked about enough is the little bit of heartbreak us wedding suppliers feel after your wedding. It’s truly an honour to be part of such a special moment in someone’s life, and for me, my brides are so much more than just clients. They become friends and leave a lasting imprint on my heart.

The Highlights of My 2024 Journey
This year, I had the incredible honour of being a finalist at the TWIA (The Wedding Industry Awards). It was an amazing experience and a moment of validation for how far I’ve come. It reminded me of the importance of celebrating milestones, no matter how big or small. But what truly makes this journey special is the people I get to work with. I’m surrounded by the most inspiring wedding suppliers and incredible brides who trust me with such an important part of their day.
Their support and belief in me means the world.

Overcoming the Imposter Syndrome
For years, I was my own worst critic. I constantly compared myself to others, feeling like I wasn’t doing enough or achieving enough.
It took a lot of mindset work to shift my perspective. I’ve come to realise that my only competition is ME.
The comparison game does nothing but hold us back. Now, I focus on my growth and celebrating others.
When one of us shines, we all do. don’t you agree?
Building a Community
This year, I was fortunate to launch @rosebud_hmua_portfolio_day, a platform designed to help other makeup artists grow their skills, showcase their talent, and build their portfolios. It’s been such a rewarding experience to see others thrive and feel confident in their craft.
Additionally, my little team at Rosebudmakeup is growing, and I’ve found so much joy in mentoring them. Watching them flourish in the industry is truly incredible. (Watch this space 2025 for more mentoring)

A Gratitude-Filled Heart
Reflecting on this year, I’m filled with gratitude for the beautiful moments, the wonderful people I’ve met, and the exciting adventures that lie ahead.
Every wedding, every bride, every moment spent creating a timeless, radiant look is what keeps me inspired. This job isn’t just about makeup; it’s about the connections, the memories, and the joy of seeing confidence shine.
Here’s to celebrating every step of the journey, focusing on growth, and lifting each other up.
Thank you for being part of this amazing 2024 chapter with me.
Let’s continue to shine, together.
Happy Christmas & Happy New Year!
